Cloud infrastructure refers to the hardware and software components (such as servers, storage, a network, virtualization software, services and management tools) that support the computing requirements of a cloud computing model.
What cloud infrastructure means?
The core concept of cloud infrastructure refers to leasing from a cloud service provider instead of owning IT infrastructure or data centers. In a cloud computing architecture, cloud infrastructure refers to the back-end hardware elements found within most enterprise data centers, only on much bigger scale.
The cloud service can be compared to a distributed environment (cf. cluster (information technology). As a concept, it is a service being offered in a “cloud” whose technical details cannot be seen or controlled by service users. The cloud service describes a new model for the production, use and delivery of IT services that involves dynamically scalable and virtual resources provided over the Internet as a service.

The term “cloud” is used as a linguistic image to refer to the internet presented in computer network diagrams, and as an abstraction to the complex infrastructure it shrouds. The concept does not define the actual implementation and the services can be implemented with customer-specific virtual machines or storage instead of separate computers.
