As information and communication technologies are used in all kinds of activities, the amount of information flowing through networks is increasing rapidly. Data centers are the fundamental technology that supports information and communication. In a data center, there are many devices that generate high heat, and these devices are subject to strict regulations regarding high temperature and high humidity, so they require powerful cooling systems that consume large amounts of energy. For these reasons, cold regions are suitable locations for data centers. In this workshop, we will share information between researchers in Japan and Finland about data centers in cold regions, which are expected to be built more and more as the amount of information increases.
