During Data Center Week  22-26 September 2025, the industry invites the public, as well as the public and private sectors, to an open dialogue with the communities for which data centers are so essential. Throughout the week, events will take place across Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland.

Activities are planned in close cooperation with local municipalities, educational institutions, and data center operators.

Events taking place in Finland

In Finland, we already had two pre-events in August, aimed at families and local communities.

Children’s day & open doors at Kirkkonummi data centre construction site – At the open event at the construction site, local residents were able to learn about the site and the progress of the construction, while the youngest members of the family were able to learn about construction machinery, safety at work and building insect hotels.

Espoo data centre construction site children’s day & open doors – In an open event at the construction site, local residents were able to get to know the site and hear about the progress of the construction, the youngest members of the family were able to get to know the site machinery, safety at work and build insect hotels, among other things.

MONDAY 22nd September

Visit to Verne Helsinki Data Center

Introduction: Verne will welcome engineering students from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences to our Helsinki data center. The group will get a behind-the-scenes look at how modern, sustainable data centers are built and run – from cooling and energy efficiency to designing for density and sustainability.

Discover Data Centers – Open Day in Kajaani

Introduction: What does the future look like in an industry that is rapidly growing in Kajaani? An open event at Business Konttori will showcase the operations, organizations and future prospects of the data center industry.

                Borealis FDCA
A targeted school visit to middle school students to CSC’s LUMI data center in Kajaani
Time: September 23, at 08:00 – 14:00
Location: Kajaani
Introduction: Two mathematics classes from Kajaanin Lyseo Middle School will explore study and career opportunities in the data center industry. The event will be held at CSC’s data center in Kajaani.

The visit includes a tour of CSC’s data center, an introduction to the LUMI supercomputer, presentations from the organizing institutions and inspiring career stories. Kajaanin University of Applied Sciences and Kainuu Vocational College also present their educational opportunities in the data center industry. The goal is to familiarize students with the data center field and showcase future career possibilities.  More information here.

Visit to Equinix Data Center and Data Center Industry Introduction for Students

Equinix Finland provides the opportunity to learn about Equinix, the Data Center industry, and how Data Centers work by organizing a short training session and a site tour in cooperation with the Metropolia educational institution.

Introduction: Finding skilled and qualified workforce is a significant challenge across Europe. The Nordic countries present an ideal location for establishing new data centers; therefore, we must also be self-sufficient in workforce for these new data centers. The webinar will introduce various educational pathways and opportunities available in Finnish and Danish vocational colleges. The development of these educational pathways is part of the EU Commission-funded CEDCE CoVE project.
